An independent standard, not a sales funnel

Companion Score exists because the rest of this category doesn't deserve your trust. Most sites rating AI companion apps are built to sell — lurid, breathless, and ranked by whoever pays the most. We built the opposite: a consumer-testing standard that grades these apps the way a proper review institution grades anything, against a fixed method, with the trade-offs in plain sight.

We test every app hands-on for at least two weeks, score it on four metrics — conversation, realism, value and privacy — and publish the result with the date we tested it. The method is public and identical for every product. When an app is good, we say what it's good for. When it isn't, we say don't bother.

The subject matter is adult, and we treat it like adults — frankly, without leering and without pretending it's something it isn't. The site itself stays clean: this is a publication for people deciding whether and what to subscribe to, not the product itself.

We make money when readers subscribe through our links, and we're plain about it. It never moves a grade. That independence is the only thing we're actually selling.
